DHL wanted to establish clearwater between their premium "DHL Express" service and "Parcel Connect," a new service for small to medium sized businesses and solo shippers alike.

After business goals had been scoped, we began by thinking of our Core Customer's needs:

• What would separate this from DHL Express?
• How can we communicate this with customers?
• Why would a customer switch from a competitor?

Our Researcher presented us with key insights after speaking with Small Businesses and existing clients. The findings were clear — the majority of our customers were looking for a service that provided a garunteed delivery time of 2-3 days to a multitude of European destinations.

One of the biggest assets we have in life is time, and this transcends into all of our projects. Budgets, demands and unrealistic expectations can sometimes lead to processes being catalysed. After taking a look at our insights, myself and the Creative Director (Owen Clarke MSc) put together a set of initial wireframes to give an ideation of how the site would look; these were closely followed by a catalogue of User flows / interaction maps. It was important to prioiritise the more important journeys of the user, honing-in on the primary goals ( signing up and requesting a call back from DHL ).

DHL entrusted in Owen and I to use Parcel Connect as a vessel in evolving the DHL branding. The result is a UI which begins to tell a story about the product itself, putting the User at the heart. I drew on my own experience when receiving a delivery, using the "your driver is X-amount of stops away" ideology as a basis for the design. Isometric illustrations are a key ingredient in telling the story to the user,making the site friendly and approachable. These furbelow the page to guide the user through the notions.
